I’m not the biggest fan of Mexican but I doesn’t mean that I’ll never eat it which is the impression Ernie has. We weren’t up for the Fresh Mex stuff which cut out Rubios and Chipotle so the next closest place was El Torito. I’ve never been to any other El Torito but the thing that turns me off from this place is the really bad service. The waiters tend to leave your drinks empty and waiting to pay the check. The manager usually catches it and gives a discount. I guess the discount isn’t so bad but I’d still prefer better service over a 10% off the check. Anyways, I do really like the chips…they are so unnaturally thin and crispy. I personally like to sprinkle a lime juice on them to add a bit of a tang to them since I really like the taste of limes.

Ernie’s mom couldn’t decide what to get so she order the Fiesta Grande Platter. I tried one of her Chicken Flautas which tasted quite like a chicken egg roll of some sort. Also her nachos weren’t bad but I prefer some meat on them which her’s didn’t have.

Ernie ordered the Grilled Chicken Fajitas since his mom was jonesing for anything chicken so she could try some of his. He forked over his portion of the sweet corn cake since he knows how much I like it. I think the sweet corn cake is the only thing I really like at El Torito.

I also didn’t quite know what to order so I got the Macho Combo which is a mix of their most popular items. I found myself not really liking the Shredded Beef Crispy Taco or the Chile Relleno so Ernie helped me out. I did really like the Chicken and Sour Cream Enchillada though and ate some of the Chicken Tamale.

The lemonade I had order was also way too sweetened. I do like sweet but not to the point where I feel like I’m eating a bag of sugar. Overall…I don’t think I’d go to El Torito again unless it was a last resort.
It seems that El Torito goes by different names in different areas and has different menues. I went to El Torito Autentico and the link below is for their menu and locations. If you go back to the “Home”, you’ll be able to find their other restaurants.
